Back in the Game is an American situation comedy starring James Caan and Maggie Lawson that is airing during the 2013–14 American television season on ABC. The series follows Terry, a former All-Star softball player whose promising career came crashing down after she had a son, lost her college scholarship, and dumped her loser husband; and her estranged father, a once-promising athlete whose glory days were not as glorious because his career was cut short and has become a beer-guzzling, self-opinionated couch potato. When Terry's son decides to play Little League baseball (despite having no knowledge of the sport whatsoever) and gets rejected along with other misfit hopefuls, she, with the help of a wealthy friend, is thrust back into the sporting world by coaching a new team consisting of the rejects.
